Working Mac OS X Driver for Samsung Laserprinter ML-1750

I’ve finally found a working driver for my old Samsung ML-1750 Laserprinter. It is based on CUPS. It is in beta state but works like a charm! It has been working perfectly since many years!
You can download it right here from my website: Samsung SPL2 Installer

Or as an alternative you can use the HPIJS driver.

I was looking for hours today trying to
    find a OS X driver for my ML-1750. I
almost had given up when I stumbled on
your site. Thanks a lot as you turned a
bad day into a good one. It works great.

Thanks a lot!!! Even in Korea, I’m Korean, it’s a hard work to use the samsung print with Mac OS X

omigod! I was just shopping for a new printer after finally having had enough of copying files onto an old (slow) PC in order to print using the ML-1750 printer which I inherited from my old flat mates a few years ago. If only I had thought to check for a driver sooner! Now I can print straight from my Mac OS X – what a life saver. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Working like a rocket on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard

Fabulous! It seems to work much faster on OS X Leopard than my previous experience with Win2K and Linux. Even graphics files seem to handle much better.

    Thanks a million.

    Dear Manuel,

Thanks a lot for the link. After many hours of searching the web, I had almost given up and thought I have to get a new printer. Tried many different options before, nothing worked. The link you provided workes flawlessly. Thanks for sharing.

    Merci viilmool! ;-)

    Manuel,

I wanted to add my thanks to all of the others. It works great in 10.5.6

You mentioned this is beta.. any idea if a final version has come up?

    Again thanks!

  12. Manuel on January 18th, 2009 23:54

    Eduardo,

Thanks for your comment. Actually, the driver has been “published” by Samsung some years(!) ago. I don’t know if it is still downloadable from their site, it was very difficult to track that days. I suppose the development has been stopped.
However, I’ve been using it for years and had never any problem, so you can safely consider it as pre-final. ;)

    Cheeers,
    Manuel

    Thank you for posting!
I’ve been working off other drivers to limited success.

    Hi,
i was looking for updates of the driver… it’s been some years that i don’t need to print at home. actually i let my family print using their own windows laptop and sharing the printer (ML-1750) using airport express… however.

i was looking for newer drivers and i found your post. i found a version of this famous SPL2 driver on an old hdd that i thought it was not working anymore.

The version is: 20040714091617593_SPL2 but i can’t tell if it’s newer than yours…

  16. Mimmo on February 6th, 2009 0:55

    also… :)

looking for the filename on google (both yours and mine version) returned these links (samsung download center, different printer model, different driver builds)

    yours: http://www.samsung.com/au/support/download/supportDownDetail.do?group=&type=&subtype=&model_nm=ML-1740&disp_nm=ML-1740&language=&cate_type=all&mType=DR&dType=D&vType=L&cttID=196408&prd_ia_cd=

    mine:
    http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDownDetail.do?group=&type=&subtype=&model_nm=ML-1510&mType=DR&dType=G&vType=L&cttID=196412&disp_nm=ML-1510

apparently the result from google is from a cached page… this let me think that these drivers are totally “generic”, meaning that this versions are newer… but who can tell? i think i’m gonna give them a try ;)

  17. Manuel on February 6th, 2009 10:51

    Mimmo,

Maybe you’re right and the drivers are generic and possibly newer! Please tell us whether they are working or not. However, *my* driver just works – I don’t miss a single feature.

    Cheers,
    Manuel

Thank you so much. I had lost the driver changing from one computer to another and moving to Leopard and was about to throw away this small and nice printer which have been working for years without any problem.
And I confirm nothing is available in terms of driver on official Samsung site for Mac Os !
    Thank you again.

When you go to the samsung site the only obvious downloadable drivers are for windows. I swear this war between windows and make is causing more damage than it is worth -

Anyway, this is a great service you are providing solved my driver problem, thanks so much!

Thanks very much! I was so depressed that there are no standard drivers for ML-1610 for OSX 10.6.
    So you saved me !

  29. anu anand on April 14th, 2010 0:39

Thanks!!!!! Works great with my ML-1750 and OS X 10.5.8!!

  30. Bruno on May 4th, 2010 23:05

Was about to install, but the ML-1750 is a PCL6 printer, tried the OS X built-in ‘Generic PCL6 driver’, which worked like a charm.

    Thanks a lot!

    It worked like a charm!

I was a bit concerned if this was a virus, but I took the risk and I am glad I did.

    Great job.

  32. Petra on August 3rd, 2010 23:45

@Bruno, how did you know its a Cpl6 printer?
